Living Acts 2 in Shreveport

In anticipation of the 2,000-year anniversary of the birth of the Church in 2033, First Baptist Church (FBC) of Shreveport, Louisiana, has embraced the Baptist World Alliance’s Acts 2 Movement as a guiding vision for renewal, mission, and unity. Rooted in the spirit of Acts 2, FBC has committed to a decade-long journey of prayer, discipleship, generosity, and witness.

“The ministry staff at First Baptist Shreveport got excited about the 2033 Movement after our Pastor encountered it at the Baptist World Alliance Annual Gathering. We saw an opportunity to align our local efforts with other Christians around the world to focus on the essential things — sharing our faith with neighbors, advocating for religious freedom, emphasizing the importance of scripture, and caring for those in need. In the Fall of 2025, our 7-week emphasis on the 2033 Movement energized our congregation to rally behind these objectives. Many of our members were inspired to live out their faith more boldly. One member shared they had always been timid about sharing their faith with a particular co-worker, but our 2033 lessons encouraged them to overcome their fear and have the conversation. Another member felt led to begin an evangelism ministry. At the end of the series, our congregants made commitments to carry on the 2033 initiatives at home and in our community.”

Minister of Discipleship, First Baptist Church - Shreveport

Beginning with intentional seasons of congregational prayer and teaching, First Baptist Shreveport re-centered its life together on the core practices of the early Church.

As we count down to 2033 around the world, First Baptist Church Shreveport’s story is one of faithful obedience and hopeful expectation. The Acts 2 Movement has reminded us that the Church is not defined by buildings or programs, but by people empowered by the Holy Spirit to love, serve, and proclaim the gospel. This impact story is still being written, and we invite your church to join the global Baptist family in preparing for this historic milestone.
